Photo A Day: July recap

6 Aug

Back in the end of June, I told you about a great blogger in Australia who writes a blog called Fat Mum Slim. She “hosts” a Photo A Day challenge with prompts for each day. I’ve been wanting to do it forever but I finally decided to get off my butt and make it happen this month. After a rocky start (apparently, I didn’t know what day it was!) I managed to get each picture done. Some were a little late  but as Chantelle (aka Fat Mum Slim) says “Photo a day is all about having fun” so there’s no penalty for screwing up a day. Here’s 25 of the 31 pics I took in July:

I really just wanted to do it to see if I could. But after a month (and a few days in August) of taking pictures, I understood the real draw: it’s a  true exercise in creativity. It makes you think and take pictures you wouldn’t normally take. I mean, I snap plenty of pictures but I probably wouldn’t have taken this shot without the Day 22’s prompt Upside Down

…or this one for Day 30: Calm

…or this one for Day 28 Cup

…or, my favorite pic of the month: Day 20’s  Eyes.

So, I’ve already started August and I hope you will too. Sure, we’re already a few days in but there’s no reason not to start now.

And keep it simple – just take them on your phone and put them on Instagram. No upload cords required! Just make sure you tag them with #photoadayaug. (Oops! I’ve been doing #photoadayaugust. Oh well. Again – remember: There’s no penalty for screwing up!) To see what I’ve been snapping, follow me on Instagram @sueerneta. Here’s a peek at how my Photo A Day August started with the prompt Outside.

Happy snapping! And thanks for reading…
