My Creative Kids: Barbie Spa

22 Oct

It’s a rare miracle when the girls let Pablo and I sleep in on a weekend so you can image my delight last week when I woke to hear some quiet sisterly fun in Sophia’s room. When I finally got out of bed to see what was happening, I discovered that the girls had created a full spa and that Lily was enjoying a foot soak!

I asked them to move the operation to the kitchen (no hardwood, no worries), where Sophia, the spa-owner set up shop and got comfy for a soak of her own.

They had such a great time, how could I be mad that it was hard to make a cup of coffee around them? (I could be very mad! Have you seen me before my coffee?)

Anyone wondering what Lily was doing laying on the floor will understand when they see this:

After their own personal spa, I should not have been surprised when they showed me this Barbie Spa that they created in the playroom.

Note that the ladies are indulging in a pedi soak in some of our own kids cups.

This lady takes her spa visits very seriously. How else can you explain that eyeshadow and the pile up of statement necklaces?

This one is ready to get her hair washed but she wore a bikini in case she got a little wet.

And apparently she’s double-fisting. A spa that serves cocktails? Sign me up!

There’s even a shallow soaking tub.

And if Barbie needs to use the facilities, they’ve just completed a renovation that turned a walk-in closet into a full-service loo.

Note: All of the above was set up by Sophia and Lily with no tweaking, styling or suggestions from me.  Aren’t they unbelievable?

I asked the girls if the empty bed was for massages and Sophia said “yes”. So, I showed them how Barbie would lay naked with a towel over her butt for a massage. After lots of giggling, they set her up that way and peeked in to make sure she was comfortable.

[…] obviously a house with two girls who would create a Barbie spa needs to have a Barbie rock star ornament, right? […]
