Fun in Florida

3 Dec

For the week of Thanksgiving, we visited my parents in Florida for a nice little vacation. How nice? Let me show you…

Sophia and Lily loved cruisin’ in Mimi’s convertible…

…and feeding the giraffe’s at Brevard Zoo.

We took a daytrip to Disney World…

…where we met some pirates…

…told Ariel about Sophia’s drama camp production of The Little Mermaid…

…checked out Prince Eric’s castle that was the entrance to…

…Under The Sea, the new Ariel ride in the brand new Fantasyland that opened the day before we got there…

…and met Buzz Lightyear. (I think Pablo was more excited than any of us!)

We ran around Mimi and Papa’s house looking cute (or should I say Lily did!)…

…and played by the pool…

…including a post-Thanksgiving-feast nighttime dip. (Thanks to my dad for heating up the pool!)

My mom took us shopping in Cocoa Village where we found an antique shop that was better than every single one that we hit in Maine. I stood staring at this display of brass stuff before picking…

…this little brass bunny. I also grabbed a glossy-framed convex mirror. Total cost: $33 for both. Woohoo! Stay tuned to see where they end up in our house.

After antiquing, we went to lunch on Cocoa Beach. The girls loved watching the surfers while Pablo and I were eyeing the little dive bar at the end of this pier and making plans to come back another time on our own.

We even met a pelican (who we named Nigel, naturally).

The ladies couldn’t leave the beach without catching their own wave!

Like most vacations, I chased after the girls trying to get a cute picture, including this one that was a recreation of one of my favorite pics from 2009.

Look how little they were! (And yes, the shirt that Sophia has on was the one that Lily wore to Disney World. Gotta love a kid that doesn’t mind hand-me-downs!)

Thanks Mom and Dad for having us! We had a great time!

If it’s the antique shop that I think it is, I LOVE THAT PLACE!

[…] One of my favorite things there is the giraffe exhibit. You stand on a pavilion high off the ground and feed crackers to these beautiful, kind, and gentle creatures. It’s totally surreal.  Of course, the day we fed them my camera battery was dead (CURSES!) but I snapped this quick pic of one when I went back. See one of our more successful giraffe feeding visits in this post. […]
