Goodbye to my 30s

Today is the last day of my 30s and I am very sad. Not because I fear my face is falling and it won’t be able to get up. Not because I think my ass and boobs will get even more saggy (not possible). Not because I can’t face The Big Four O. I can.

Forty! See? I said it. Forty! Forty! Forty!

It’s because my 30s were so awesome. Of all the decades of my life, my 30s were the best. And I don’t want to see them go. In 2002 on the day before my 30th birthday, I celebrated my bridal shower and my bachelorette party. My friends did not disappoint with the evening’s festivities and at midnight as the clock ticked over to my 30th birthday, I found myself dancing on a bar in lower Manhattan yelling “I’m 30 and I’m getting married.” It was a great night and that’s just how the decade began.

And then my 30s happened. Which meant this happened…

…and this happened…

…and this happened.

And that means now I get to be the Mommy to this.

So, with trepidation I enter my 40s tomorrow. It simply can not get any better than this.
