Vote for Lily’s room on Apartment Therapy!

18 Sep

Guess what happened? I entered Lily’s room (in its old toddler-bed-form) in Apartment Therapy’s Room For Color contest and it was chosen! I was so thrilled when it popped up on the site on Monday.

Remember when our living room was featured in this same contest a couple years ago? Maybe I’ll enter a different room every year!

If You Build It, They Will Come

17 Oct

When I started this blog a few months ago, I had high hopes but I was cautiously optimistic. I mean, I have been blogging at lhj.com as part of my day job since 2008 but this time I’m really putting myself out there. I’m writing about my house and my quirky design sense so I wasn’t sure how it would be received. I mean, I’m not stupid. I’ve been in other people’s houses and I know that sometimes my taste can be perceived as a little “different”.

But it’s been great! There are so many things happening lately here at Sue at Home that have made me really happy.

#1 thing that made me really really happy: Apartment Therapy

When you’re scrolling through Apartment Therapy’s latest posts and you see your living room, it’s a really good day! No, it’s not the honor of a full House Tour but I’m thrilled to have my living room featured as a contender in AT’s Room for Color contest. And I’d be beyond thrilled if you would “favorite” my room so I can win! Here’s the link: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/sues-laid-back-cool-room-room-for-color-contest-178478

#2 thing that made me really really happy: MadeByGirl

One of my favorite bloggers, Jen Ramos of MadeByGirl, featured an image of Lily’s room from Sue at Home! Lily’s room has a piece of Jen’s art so she showed it in a reader’s rooms wrap-up. I was beaming for days! Thanks Jen! See the post here.

#3 thing that made me really really happy: YOU

My readership has grown steadily since I started but now I usually get 100-250 clicks a day from who-knows-where plus there’s another 100 views from my consistent subscribers (who I love). That’s right. I just got my 100th subscriber. Wa-hoo! It might seem small to bigger bloggers but to me, it’s great. And I love each and every one of you! (And thanks to all of you…I’ve had over 11,000 views! Yeah!)

#4 thing that made me really really happy: Giveaways

I’ve got a few giveaways coming up in the next couple months so stay tuned! That’s right…my first giveaway. Yeah!

#5 thing that made me really really happy: Guest Blogging

I’m thrilled to have been asked to write some guest blogs for some really cool sites. Stay tuned – I’ll let you know when they’re up.

#6 thing that made me really really happy: Having a Client

Ya – I know that sounds weird. Allow me to explain. A woman I didn’t know named Amy, wrote something on Facebook like, “I’d like to redecorate my daughter’s room but I need help. Does anyone have any suggestions?” and our mutual friend Diana said “My friend Sue could help you.” (How awesome is Diana!? Very.) So, Amy and I spoke and I explained to her that I have no interior design training but…get this… she was willing to work with me based on my blog. I know – it still sounds weird to me. So, now we’re slowly discussing her daughter’s room and I hope to have some pictures to share with all of you soon.

(Oh…and if anyone else is interested in me creating a design plan for you, please let me know. We can work together digitally. We don’t even need to be in the same place!)

I guess what I’m trying to say is Thanks for all the support. This blog can’t be a success without YOU so please let me know what you like to read and what you want more of? More about my house? More DIY? More crafts? More “Pin of the Week” features? More kids? More travel? More fashion? More videos? More Field of Dream references? Less?

Just let me know.
